Burn-In Board Design

Schematic DrawingIf you need a board designed and built, we can handle that for you.

At Golden Altos, we design and manufacture four different classes of boards:

Standard Burn-In Boards

Standard burn-in boards designed for use for either HTOL (High Temperature Operating Life) or LTOL (Low Temperature Operating Life) applications. At Golden Altos, we routinely design boards to fit industry standard burn-in ovens such as Kineticon, REL Inc., Aehr Test System and Microtest. We can also design custom boards to fit your specific requirements.

The standard dimensions and applicable channel capacity for these burn-in ovens are:

B/I Oven Board Type Dimensions Channel Capacity
Kineticon 12.30 inches by 23.86 inches 380
REL Inc. 12.32 inches by 23.85 inches 40
Aehr Test 11.45 inches by 23.75 inches 21
Microtest 6.55 inches by 23.25 inches 20
Custom per customer specifications as applicable

HAST Boards

Designed for Highly Accelerated Stress Test (HAST) applications, these boards are normally smaller than burn-in boards and are either industry standard single wide (4.00 inches by 18.35 inches) and double wide (8.75 inches by 13.35 inches). These boards are available with a variety of options depending on the customer needs. These options include press pins, all gold body, and multi-layer.

85/85 Boards

85/85 boards are designed for high moisture environmental stress tests (85°C / 85% RH). The boards come in various dimensions depending on the customer board density requirements. A layer of conformal coating can optionally be applied on the board to prevent moisture from shorting the traces during the stress test.

Specialty Applications

Golden Altos also designs and manufactures boards for applications other than environmental testing. These are built to customer specifications for each particular application. Comprising these types of boards are interface boards, test boards, program cards, load boards, probe cards and demo boards.

Board Material

The PCBs designed and manufactured by Golden Altos come in a variety of materials.

The most common types with their various temperature limits and lead times are:

Material Temperature Limit Standard Lead Times
Polyimide up to 260°C
Best choice, readily available from source
Risholite up to 150°C
Better choice, usually readily available from source
FR4 up to 180°C
Good choice, moderate lead time required by source
G-TEK200 up to 185°C
Good choice, moderate lead time required by source
BT Material up to 170°C
Good choice, usually long lead time required by source
